Opportunity:  Columbian Chemicals and the Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association have agreed to continue their funding of Environmental, Outdoor Education programming for core city schools at the Dave Brown Outdoor Education Centre.  Primary teachers of grades 1, 2 & 3 are invited to submit their booking requests to attend.

Teacher Notes:

1. The program accommodates two classes per day from the same school.  

2. One class will arrive at the Dave Brown Centre for a morning session and the second class for an afternoon session.  Each class, whether a.m. or p.m. will participate in a half-day outdoor environmental education program. 

3. The busing time and the program schedule are based on the number of students that can be safely accommodated in each program session.  
   The student transportation contribution is $2.50 per student.  Classes attending will receive be invoiced by the Board offices.  

4. Please note: Laidlaw busing cannot accommodate alternative busing times.  Morning sessions begin with an 8:50 a.m. pick-up at the school, and an 11:30 return from the Centre.  Afternoon sessions begin with a 12:10 pick-up and a 2:30 return from the Centre. 

• Grades 1, 2 & 3 teachers are invited to complete a  request form.  

• Please be aware that there are a defined number of available programming days.  If there are more requests than program dates available; classes will be randomly chosen in a draw.  

• Those schools and classes who have been chosen to participate will be contacted regarding bus schedules and special requests.  

• Classes who have not yet participated in this program in the past are encouraged to apply.  

• As funding is made available, schools will be contacted about future programs.

• Sandra Root, from 'Down To Earth', will be organizing the schedule and communicating with teachers regarding their applications.
